Can I play on a Subscription Ocean for free?
Yes! Simply download the game, register, and start playing.
What are the restrictions of the Free Trial?
As a free trial player you cannot progress above the rank of Cabin Person in a crew. In addition you are prevented from wearing fancy clothes or wielding the more expensive swords. In all other respects you can enjoy the full game.
Subscriptions
Do I have to pay for Puzzle Pirates?
No, you do not need to subscribe in order to keep playing on a Subscription Ocean. However, you will be restricted in the crew ranks you can attain, puzzles you can play, and clothing you can wear. If you prefer, try a Doubloon Ocean where basic play is also free, but where you can use the Doubloon Exchange to obtain premium gameplay by trading pieces of eight for doubloons.
Why should I subscribe to Puzzle Pirates?
Arr! Here are some reasons why a subscription is worthy of yer dollars and cents:
- Puzzle Pirates is incredible value! For $9.95 (or less) ye can play for hours every day, for a whole month. Compare this to seeing just one movie, picking up a fancy coffee three days in a row, or buying half a DVD. Half a DVD isn't much fun.
- Three Rings keeps improving Puzzle Pirates, adding new Puzzles, new features, new islands, and so on. Yer subscription goes straight to making the game more fun.
- Yer crew needs yer! There's no better reason to play Puzzle Pirates than the fun that ye can have with yer mates.
- Three Rings is a small company that has developed Puzzle Pirates independently, without the help o' a big corporation. Should ye value small firms and the innovation that comes from 'em, then ye should know that yer support makes a great deal of difference to us.
- It's a Pirate's life fer ye! Ye know it's true, ye can feel it in yer bones. How can ye go back to being a landlubber now?
How do I cancel / unsubscribe?
Once you've signed up for a billing plan you can cancel at any time from the billing panel (click on Account, then the Billing system button, then enter your password and click the Cancel button). You will continue to enjoy the time you've already paid for.
Will I be automatically charged after the first subscription period?
Yes. By signing up for a subscription with a credit card you give us permission to continue to charge your credit card for subsequent months, quarters, or years.
How can I avoid being automatically charged the next subscription period?
Simply sign up for a package and then cancel your account and you will not be automatically billed again. You will receive an email when your currently paid up subscription period expires, and you can decide whether or not you wish to re-subscribe then. Alternatively you could pay via check or paypal, leaving the ball in your court to send future subscription payments manually. You will receive a reminder email a few days before your subscription expires.

What are the Subscription Prices?
Pricing for Puzzle Pirates subscriptions are as follows:
- Monthly: $9.95 / month.
- Quarterly: $19.95 / first quarter, $24.95 / subsequent. [ $7.90 / month average over a year ]
- Annually: $74.95 / year. [ $6.25 / month ]
Does a month last a month, or until the end of the current month?
When you subscribe your account will be active for the duration of your subscription, i.e. for a month for the next 28-31 days. You will be billed again on the same day in the next month. Similarly a quarter of time lasts approximately 90 days, not until the end of the current calendar quarter.
Other Questions
Can I purchase a gift subscription for another player?
Yes. The Gift Subscription allows subscribed players to transfer subscription time that they have already paid for to other players. The time given as a gift will be deducted as months of subscription from your account.
Gift subscription can be given either from within the game or from your account billing page.
Gifts given from within the game are based on a player's Pirate name. To gift a player, type /gift and the player's Pirate name. Doing so will open a web page that will allow you to enter the amount of months that you would like to gift to the chosen player. When gifting using a player's Pirate name, be sure to verify that you have select the Pirate you intended and that you used the /gift command on the correct ocean.
You can also gift another player from your Account Billing page. After logging on to the billing system from the account page, select the "Gift" button at the bottom of the page. You will then be presented with a page where you can enter the account name for a player. Keep in mind that the player's account name is not necessarily the same as their Pirate name. A player would need to provide their account name to you in order for you to be able to provide a gift subscription to them via this process.
After you have gifted time to another player, they will be immediately subscribed for the number of months that you selected. It is worth remembering that we are not able to reverse gift subscriptions.
Can I subscribe with Doubloons?
Yes. "Coinscribing" is the process by which you can use bought doubloons to buy subscription time. Bought time is exactly like subscription, but doesn't resubscribe automatically. Coinscribing costs 42 Doubloons. To Coinscribe please visit our coinscribe billing page
Can I login more than one Pirate on one Account?
Each Account can have up to three pirates on all Oceans, but to play two Pirates simultaneously they will need to be on different Accounts.
